If you’re dealing with Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW), you know how tough it can be. The search for relief may feel endless, and TSW warriors have sought treatments ranging from creams to supplements to therapies like red light and Cold Atmospheric Plasma CAP treatment.

Because we have treated TSW for more than a decade, we want to share our experience and pur patients’ feedback with regard to CAP treatment for TSW or Cold Atmospheric Plasma (CAP) therapy.

At our clinic, we use Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in tandem with lymphatic drainage and CAP therapy. This provides a more holistic and effective path to recovery. Let me break down how these therapies work together to help heal TSW.

CAP treatment for TSW can help prevent it gets worse

When the TSW flare gets worse, it’s a real struggle. The relentless itch, the painful skin, the constant discomfort — it can all feel like a never-ending nightmare.

From burning and weeping to flaking, from oozing erosions to pus-filled blister, TSW can make your skin feel like a battleground. And it’s not just about the physical symptoms. The emotional toll can be just as devastating, with fatigue, depression, and insomnia taking a toll on your overall well-being.

The simple act of showering can become a painful ordeal. It’s no wonder many people with TSW end up feeling trapped at home, unable to work or participate in normal life.

If you’re dealing with the itch, pain, and frustration of TSW, we understand the struggle. CAP therapy is a viable treatment for TSW.  Read on as we explain how we might use CAP as treatment for your TSW.

The Power of CAP Treatment for TSW

CAP treatment for TSW is showing incredible promise because of its unique effects.

One effect of CAP treatment for TSW is its ability to  reduce the intensity of TSW flares. CAP is anti-inflammatory but also has cytotoxic and anti-microbial effects. This means that in addition to reducing redness of the skin, it also helps to kill harmful microbes, which is especially important for treating weepy discoid eczema lesions.

CAP therapy also promotes skin cell growth, boosting the production of collagen and elastin. These are essential for your skin’s recovery, helping it to regain its strength and elasticity.

With CAP, you’re not just managing symptoms—you’re actively supporting your skin’s ability to heal and regenerate.

How Does CAP Therapy Work?

CAP therapy operates through several mechanisms to treat various skin conditions, including Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW). Here’s a breakdown of its key functions:

  • Antimicrobial Effects: CAP effectively eliminates harmful bacteria and fungi, promoting skin recovery and wound healing.
  • Cellular Regeneration: By stimulating growth factors, CAP enhances the regeneration of skin cells, particularly beneficial for those affected by long-term medication use.
  • Micro-exfoliation: CAP gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead cells and improving overall texture.
  • Anti-inflammatory Properties: CAP exhibits anti-inflammatory effects, reducing inflammation and promoting wound healing.
  • Angiogenesis: CAP stimulates the formation of new blood vessels, enhancing nutrient and oxygen delivery to the skin.
  • Oxidative Damage: CAP generates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS and RNS), which can target tumor cells and induce apoptosis.

Effective Use of CAP Therapy for TSW

Patient response does differ across different individuals. This is why it is important to monitor the response after the first session of CAP, to tweak subsequent sessions depending on feedback from the patient.

We often start the treatments with a lower intensity and slowly work upwards. This is to minimize likelihood of post-treatment flares, which does happen especially with high intensity, long duration treatments.

The other thing we do at our clinic is assess the state of lymphatic system. We have found many times in the treatment of patients that treatment efficacy is strongly amplified after the effective flow rate is increased — this means that the detox mechanism of the lymphatic system is working as it should.

In our clinic, our present protocol almost always begins with an assessment of the lymphatic system. We map out areas of congestion before deciding with the patient on a strategy with CAP therapy.

Combining of CAP Treatments with TCM and Lymphatic Drainage

Having worked with TSW patients in an integrated fashion, these are my observations on different therapies work in tandem to facilitate recovery.

TCM Herbs Resolve Imbalances

TCM herbs are used to address the extreme imbalances seem in a TSW flare.

When it comes to TSW, Chinese herbs play a crucial role in helping your body recover. These herbs aren’t just about masking symptoms—they’re about rebuilding your body’s systems and while cooling down the intense fire that is characteristic of TSW.

For example, if your skin is dry and itchy, there are specific herbs that can help soothe those symptoms.

If you are dealing with red, burning rashes, TCM can prescribe herbs that help cool things down and reduce inflammation, so that, in the final phases of recovery, your body can manage the healing on its own.

Lymphatic Drainage is Crucial

Lymphatic drainage also plays a crucial role in your body’s healing process. Your lymphatic system is like your body’s drainage system, helping to fight infections and get rid of toxins.

When you’re going through TSW, your lymph nodes can get congested, making it harder for your body to heal. That’s where lymphatic drainage therapy comes in.

By helping your body collect and eliminate waste, damaged cells, and other nasties, lymphatic drainage supports your body’s natural detox process.

I have been working with TSW for about 10 years already, and have devised a precise approach to assessing lymphatic congestion in a TSW patient

When I combine precise lymphatic drainage together with CAP treatment, I take a safety-first approach to help the patient recover.

Ultimately, we want to clear the way for your body to heal itself. My strong beliefis that CAP treatments for TSW are best used in tandem with lymphatic drainage and TCM

CAP to Heal TSW?

If you or someone you know is struggling with TSW, I encourage you to explore the therapies mentioned above.

Of course, consider CAP, but do not forget that combining TCM, lymphatic drainage, and CAP therapy offers a well-rounded approach to healing that brings down inflammation, supports detoxification and promotes skin regeneration.

With the right support and treatments, there’s hope for recovery from TSW!

FAQs

How Does CAP Treatment Work?

CAP treatment for TSW works by using ionized gases to interact with the skin. It eradicates harmful bacteria and fungi, enhances cellular regeneration, performs micro-exfoliation, reduces inflammation, and promotes angiogenesis. This combination of effects helps in managing conditions like Topical Steroid Withdrawal (TSW) by alleviating symptoms and accelerating healing.

How Many Days Is CAP Treatment?

The duration of CAP treatment can vary depending on the condition and individual needs.

We do not ask you to buy packages. Instead, we assess your individual condition and work with you to decide on the treatment approach and what intensity of CAP treatment to proceed with each time.

If you do respond well, CAP treatment typically involves multiple sessions, with each session lasting around 30-60 minutes.

We are cautious about treatments that are excessively intense, therefore usually start gentle.

Lymphatic drainage is almost always part of the treatment session and may take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. It is usually not EITHER-OR, rather lymphatix drainage is almost always mixed in with CAP therapy.

How Long Is CAP Treatment?

The overall treatment course can extend over several weeks, with the exact duration tailored to how you respond..

For TSW, sessions might be spaced out to allow for optimal recovery and symptom management.
