I treat skin. Eczema, topical steroid withdrawal, pompholyx, psoriasis.

I also treat the allergic conditions that travel with them — rhinitis and asthma.

My PhD Was on Topical Steroid Withdrawal

Most practitioners who treat TSW came to it after the condition was already widely discussed. I started in 2013, at the beginning, and have worked through the entire evolution of how it presents and how it is understood.

My PhD was on this condition, in two halves:

  • The historical half — what the well-known TCM dermatologists of the 1900s did for acute erythroderma across a range of conditions, and what transfers to Red Skin Syndrome (RSS).
  • The clinical half — I documented and classified my own use of different formulations across 52 patients.

That is why the approach described across this site is specific about which approach suits which presentation, rather than offering one protocol to everyone.

Teaching

Between 2011 and 2016 I organised and ran five TCM education programmes in China for student-practitioners from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine:

I also run a clinic internship programme in Singapore, and the research write-ups on this site are produced together with those interns.
